    "text": "## Chapter LXXI\n\n\nLXXI. *Two earlier visions of Enoch*.\n\n#### CHAPTER LXXI.\n\n1. And it came to pass after this that my spirit was translated\n\nAnd it ascended into the heavens:\n\nAnd I saw the **holy sons of God**.\n\nThey were stepping on flames of fire:\n\nTheir garments were white [and their raiment],\n\nAnd their faces shone like snow.\n\n2. And I saw two streams of fire,\n\nAnd the light of that fire shone like hyacinth,\n\nAnd I fell on my face before the Lord of Spirits.\n\n3. And the angel Michael [one of the archangels] seized me by my right hand,\n\nAnd lifted me up and led me forth into all the secrets,\n\nAnd he showed me all the secrets of righteousness.\n\n4. And he showed me all the secrets of the ends of the heaven,\n\nAnd all the chambers of all the stars, and all the luminaries,\n\nWhence they proceed before the face of the holy ones.\n\n5. And he translated my spirit into the heaven of heavens,\n\nAnd I saw there as it were a structure built of crystals,\n\nAnd between those crystals tongues of living fire.\n\n6. And my spirit saw the girdle which girt that house of fire,\n\nAnd on its four sides were streams full of living fire,\n\nAnd they girt that house.p. 94\n\n7. And round about were Seraphin, Cherubic, and Ophannin:\n\nAnd these are they who sleep not\n\nAnd guard the throne of His glory.\n\n8. And I saw angels who could not be counted,\n\nA thousand thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand,\n\nEncircling that house.\n\nAnd Michael, and Raphael, and Gabriel, and Phanuel,\n\nAnd the holy angels who are above the heavens,\n\nGo in and out of that house.\n\n9. And they came forth from that house,\n\nAnd Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel,\n\nAnd many holy angels without number.\n\n10. And with them the Head of Days,\n\nHis head white and pure as wool,\n\nAnd His raiment indescribable.\n\n11. And I fell on my face,\n\nAnd my whole body became relaxed,\n\nAnd my spirit was transfigured;\n\nAnd I cried with a loud voice,\n\n. . .with the spirit of power,\n\nAnd blessed and glorified and extolled.\n\n12. And these blessings which went forth out of my mouth were well pleasing before that Head of Days. 13. And that Head of Days came with Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel, thousands and ten thousands of angels without number.\n\n[Lost passage wherein the Son of Man was described as accompanying the Head of Days, and Enoch asked one of the angels (as in 46 3 ) concerning the Son of Man as to who he was.]\n\n14. And he (*i.e.* the angel) came to me and greeted me with His voice, and said unto me:\n\n'**This is** the Son of Man who is born unto righteousness;p. 95\n\nAnd righteousness abides over him,\n\nAnd the righteousness of the Head of Days forsakes him not.'\n\n15. And he said unto me:\n\n'He proclaims unto thee peace in the name of the world to come;\n\nFor from hence has proceeded peace since the creation of the world,\n\nAnd so shall it be unto thee for ever and for ever and ever.\n\n16. And all shall walk in **his** ways since righteousness never forsaketh **him**:\n\nWith **him** will be their dwelling-places, and with **him** their heritage,\n\nAnd they shall not be separated from him for ever and ever and ever.\n\n17. And so there shall be length of days with that Son of Man,\n\nAnd the righteous shall have peace and an upright way\n\nIn the name of the Lord of Spirits for ever and ever.'\n\n## Chapter LXXI\n\n\nLXXXI. *The Heavenly Tablets and the Mission of Enoch*.\n\n#### CHAPTER LXXXI.\n\n1. And he said unto me:\n\n'Observe, Enoch, these heavenly tablets,\n\nAnd read what is written thereon,\n\nAnd mark every individual fact.'\n\n\n2 And I observed the heavenly tablets, and read everything which was written (thereon) and understood everything, and read the book of all the deeds of mankind, and of all the children of flesh that shall be upon the earth to the remotest generations. 3. And forthwith I blessed the great Lord the King of glory for ever, in that He has made all the works of the world,\n\nAnd I extolled the Lord because of His patience,\n\nAnd blessed Him because of the children of men.\n\n4. And after that I said:\n\n'Blessed is the man who dies in righteousness and goodness,\n\nConcerning whom there is no book of unrighteousness written,\n\nAnd against whom no day of judgement shall be found.'\n\n5. And those seven holy ones brought me and placed me on the earth before the door of my house, and said to me: 'Declare everything to thy son Methuselah, and show to all thy children that no flesh is righteous in the sight of the Lord, for He is their Creator. 6. One year we will leave thee with thy son, till thou givest thy (last) commands, that thou mayest teach thy children and record (it) for them, and testify to all thy children; and in the second year they shall take thee from their midst.\n\n7. Let thy heart be strong,\n\nFor the good shall announce righteousness to the good;\n\nThe righteous with the righteous shall rejoice,\n\nAnd shall offer congratulation to one another.\n\n8. But the sinners shall die with the sinners,\n\nAnd the apostate go down with the apostate.\n\n9. And those who practice righteousness shall die on account of the deeds of men,\n\nAnd be taken away on account of the doings of the godless.'\n\n\n10. And in those days they ceased to speak to me, and I came to my people, blessing the Lord of the world.",
