    "note": "The foundational corpus of the Arabic alchemical tradition, ascribed to Jabir ibn Ḥayyān (Latin Geber, fl. 8th–9th c.) — a primary headwater of the Western alchemical-hermetic stream. The Jabirian writings develop the doctrine of the Balance (ʿilm al-mīzān), the four Natures, the three principles (Spirit / Soul / Body), and the Elixir and the Stone as a spiritual-science of substance, transmitting the Egyptian-Hermetic mystery-current into the Arabic epoch and onward into Latin alchemy. Curated here for the alchemical, Mystery-, and Arabism themes Steiner engages; the selection is anthroposophically motivated, not a neutral survey. Twenty treatises from Paul Kraus's critical anthology *Mukhtār rasāʾil Jābir ibn Ḥayyān* (Cairo 1935), Kraus's paragraph-numbering preserved as the citation scheme; several are Kraus's own selections (نخب), flagged per work. Honesty-gap: the English is a project translation — a term-anchored LLM rendering from frontier-model vision transcription of the 1935 Arabic (body transcription independently audited at ~96% verbatim; ~0.8% silent misreads; complex Balance tables and diagram numerics are unreliable — verify against the page image). It is a first public-domain English witness and reading aid, not a scholarly edition, and does not supersede Kraus, Berthelot, or Haq.
