For \"the wise* guard\nthe home of nature's order, they assume excellent forms in secret.\"**\nBut we must see whether the \"animals\" tampered with,\nwere of the same kind as those known to zoology.\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* This verse in the Veda (*X.* 5-6), \"The seven wise\nones (rays of wisdom, Dhyanis) fashion seven paths (or lines as\nalso *Races *in another sense). To one of these may the\ndistressed mortal come\" -- which is interpreted solely from\nthe astronomical and cosmic aspect -- is one of the most pregnant\nin occult meaning. The \"paths\" may mean lines (*maryadah*)*,\n*but they are primarily beams of light falling on the paths\nleading to wisdom. (See *Rig Veda ***IV**.\n5-13.) It means \"ways\" or paths. They are, in short,\nthe seven Rays which fall free from the macrocosmic centre, the\nseven principles in the metaphysical, the seven Races in the physical\nsense. All depends upon the key used.\n\n*** *\"*Rig Veda,*\"* *X. 10, 5,\n2.\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 192 THE SECRET DOCTRINE.\n\n(*a*) The \"Fall\" occurred, according to the testimony\nof ancient Wisdom and the old records, as soon as Daksha (the\nreincarnated Creator of men and things in the early Third Race)\ndisappeared to make room for that portion of mankind which had\n\"separated.\" This is how the Commentary explains the\ndetails that preceded the \"Fall\": --\n\n\"*In the initial period of man*'*s Fourth evolution,\nthe human kingdom branched off in several and various directions.\nThe outward shape of its first specimens was not uniform, for\nthe vehicles *(the egg-like, external shells, in which the\nfuture fully physical man gestated) *were often tampered with,\nbefore they hardened, by huge animals, of species now unknown,\nand which belonged to the tentative efforts of Nature. The result\nwas that intermediate races of monsters, half animals, half men,\nwere produced. But as they were failures, they were not allowed\nto breathe long and live, though the intrinsically paramount power\nof psychic over physical nature being yet very weak, and hardly\nestablished, the *'*Egg-Born*'* Sons had taken several\nof their females unto themselves as mates, and bred other human\nmonsters. Later, animal species and human races becoming gradually\nequilibrized, they separated and mated no longer. Man created\nno* *more -- he begot. But he also begot animals, as well\nas* *men in* *days of old. Therefore the Sages *(*or\nwise men*)*, who speak of males who had no more* *will-begotten\noffspring, but begat various animals along with Danavas* (giants)\n*on females of other species -- animals being as *(*or\nin a manner of*)* Sons putative to them*;* and they\n*(the human males) *refusing in time to be regarded as\n*(putative) *fathers of dumb creatures *-- *spoke\ntruthfully and wisely. Upon seeing this *(state of things),\n*the kings and Lords of the Last Races *(of the Third and\nthe Fourth) *placed the seal of prohibition upon the sinful\nintercourse. It interfered with Karma*, *it developed new\n*(Karma)*.*** They *(the divine Kings) *struck\nthe culprits with sterility. They destroyed the Red and Blue Races.****\n*\n\nIn another we find: --\n\n\"*There were blue and red-faced animal-men even in later\ntimes*;* not from actual intercourse *(between the\nhuman and animal species), *but by descent.*\"\n\nAnd still another passage mentions: --\n\n\"*Red-haired, swarthy men going on all-fours, who bend\nand unbend *(stand erect and fall on their hands again) *who\nspeak as their forefathers, and run on their hands as their giant\nfore-mothers.*\"\n\nPerchance in these specimens, Haeckelians might recognize, not\nthe\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* It is next to impossible to translate verbally some of these\nold Commentaries. We are often obliged to give the meaning only,\nand thus retranslate the verbatim translations.\n\n** Rudra, as a Kumara, is *Lilalohita -- *red and blue.\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 193 THE BONELESS RACE.\n\n*Homo primigenius, *but some of the lower tribes, such\nas some tribes of the Australian savages. Nevertheless, even these\nare not descended from the anthropoid apes, but from human fathers\nand semi-human mothers, or, to speak more correctly, from human\nmonsters -- those \"failures\" mentioned in the first\nCommentary. The real anthropoids, Haeckel's *Catarrhini *and\n*Platyrrhini, *came far later, in the closing times of\nAtlantis. The orang-outang, the gorilla, the chimpanzee and cynocephalus\nare the latest and purely physical evolutions from lower anthropoid\nmammalians. They have a spark of the purely human essence in them;\nman on the other hand, has not one drop of pithecoid* blood in\nhis veins. Thus saith old Wisdom and universal tradition.\n\nHow was the separation of sexes effected? it is asked. Are we\nto believe in the old Jewish fable of the rib of Adam yielding\nEve? Even such belief is more logical and reasonable than the\ndescent of man from the Quadrumana without any reservation; as\nthe former hides an esoteric truth under a fabulous version, while\nthe latter conceals no deeper fact than a desire to force upon\nmankind a materialistic fiction. The rib is bone, and when we\nread in Genesis that Eve was made out of the rib, it only means\nthat the *Race with bones *was produced out of a previous\nRace and Races, which were \"boneless.\" This is an esoteric\ntenet spread far and wide, as it is almost universal under its\nvarious forms. A Tahitian tradition states that man was created\nout of *Araea, *\"red\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* This, regardless of modern materialistic evolution, which speculates\nin this wise: \"The primitive human form, whence as we think\nall human species sprang, has perished this long time.\" (This\nwe deny; it has only decreased in size and changed in texture.)\n\"But many facts point to the conclusion that it was hairy\nand dolichocephalic.\" (African races are even *now*\ndolichocephalic in a great measure, but the palaeolithic Neanderthal\nskull, the oldest we know of, is of a large size, and no nearer\nto the capacity of the gorilla's cranium than that of any other\nnow-living man). \"Let us, for the time being, call this hypothetical\nspecies *Homo primigenius*. . . . This first species, or\nthe Ape-man, the ancestor of all the others, PROBABLY arose in\nthe *tropical regions *of the old world from ANTHROPOID\nAPES.\" Asked for proofs, the evolutionist, not the least\ndaunted, replies: \"Of these NO FOSSIL REMAINS ARE AS YET\nKNOWN TO US, BUT THEY WERE *probably *AKIN TO THE **G**ORILLA\nAND **O**RANG OF THE PRESENT DAY.\" And then\nthe Papuan negro is mentioned as the probable descendant in the\nfirst line (*Pedigree of Man, p*. 80).\n\nHaeckel holds fast to Lemuria, which with East Africa and South\nAsia also, he mentions as the possible cradle of the primitive\nApe-men; and so do many geologists. Mr. A. R. Wallace admits its\nreality, though in a rather modified sense, in his \"*Geographical\nDistribution of Animals.*\"* *But let not Evolutionists\nspeak so lightly of the comparative size of the brains of man\nand the ape, for this is very *unscientific, *especially\nwhen they pretend to see no difference between the two, or very\nlittle at any rate. For Vogt himself showed that, while the highest\nof the Apes, the gorilla, has a brain of only 30 to 51 cubic inches,\nthe brain of the lowest of the Australian aborigines amounts to\n99.35 cubic inches. The former is thus \"not half of the size\nof the brain of a new-born babe,\" says Pfaff.\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 194 THE SECRET DOCTRINE.\n\nEarth.\" Taaroa, the creative power, the chief god, \"put\nman to sleep for long years, for several lives,\" which means\nracial periods, and is a reference to his *mental sleep, *as\nshown elsewhere. During that time the deity pulled an* Ivi*\n(bone) out of man and she became a woman.*\n\nNevertheless, whatever the allegory may mean, even its exoteric\nmeaning necessitates a *divine *Builder of man -- \"a\nProgenitor.\" Do we then believe in such \"supernatural\"\nbeings? We say, No. Occultism has never believed in anything,\nwhether animate or inanimate, *outside *nature. Nor are\nwe Cosmolators or Polytheists for believing in \"Heavenly\nMan\" and divine men, for we have the accumulated testimony\nof the ages, with its unvarying evidence on every essential point,\nto support us in this; the Wisdom of the Ancients and UNIVERSAL\ntradition. We reject, however, every groundless and baseless tradition,\nwhich, having outgrown strict allegory and symbolism, has found\nacceptance in exoteric creeds. But that which is preserved in*\nunanimous *traditions, only the wilfully blind could reject.\nHence we believe in races of beings other than our own in far\nremote geological periods; in races of ethereal, following *incorporeal,\n*\"*Arupa,*\"* *men, with form but no\nsolid substance, giants who preceded us pigmies; in dynasties\nof divine beings, those Kings and Instructors of the Third Race\nin arts and sciences, compared with which our little modern science\nstands less chance than elementary arithmetic with geometry.\n\nNo, certainly not. We do not believe in the *supernatural *but\nonly in *the superhuman, *or rather *interhuman, *intelligences.\nOne may easily appreciate the feeling of reluctance that an educated\nperson would have to being classed with the superstitious and\nignorant; and even realize the great truth uttered by Renan when\nhe says that: \"The supernatural has become like the original\nsin, a blemish that every one seems ashamed of -- even those most\nreligious persons who refuse in our day to accept even a *minimum\n*of Bible miracles in all their crudeness, and who, seeking\nto reduce them to the *minimum, *hide and conceal it in\nthe furthermost corners of the past.\"**\n\nBut the \"supernatural\" of Renan belongs to dogma and\nits dead letter. It has nought to do with its Spirit nor with\nthe reality of facts in Nature. If theology asks us to believe\nthat four or five thousand years ago men lived 900 years and more,\nthat a portion of mankind, the enemies of the people of Israel\nexclusively, was composed of giants\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* \"*Polynesian Researches,*\"* *Ellis.\nVol.**II**., p. 38.\n\nMissionaries seem to have pounced upon this name *Ivi*\nand made of it *Eve*. But, as shown by Professor Max Muller,\nEve is not the Hebrew name but an European transformation of\n, chavah, \"life,\"\nor mother of all living; \"while the Tahitian *Ivi*\nand the Maori *Wheva *meant bone and bone only.\" (\"*False\nAnalogies.*\")\n\n*** Chaire d*'*Hebreu au college de France, *p.\n20.\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 195 THE HAIRY MEN OF CHINA.\n\nand monsters, we decline to believe that such a thing existed\nin Nature *5,000 years back. *For Nature never proceeds\nby jumps and starts, and logic and common sense, besides geology,\nanthropology and ethnology, have justly rebelled against such\nassertions. But if that same theology, giving up her fantastic\nchronology, had claimed that men lived 969 years -- the age of\nMethuselah -- five million years ago, we would have nothing to\nsay against the claim. For in those days the physical frame of\nmen was, compared to the present human body, as that of a megalosaurus\nto a common lizard.\n\nA naturalist suggests another difficulty. The human is the only\nspecies which, however unequal in its races, can breed together.\n\"There is no question of selection between *human races,*\"*\n*say the anti-Darwinists, and no evolutionist can deny the\nargument -- one which very triumphantly proves *specific unity.\n*How then can Occultism insist that a portion of the Fourth\nRace humanity begot young ones from females of another, only *semi-human,\n*if not quite an animal, race, the hybrids resulting from\nwhich union not only bred freely but produced the ancestors of\nthe modern anthropoid apes? Esoteric science replies to this that\nit was in the very beginnings of physical man. Since then, Nature\nhas changed her ways, and sterility is the only result of the\ncrime of man's bestiality. But we have to this day proofs of this.\nThe Secret Doctrine teaches that the *specific unity of mankind\n*is not without exceptions even now. For there are, or rather\nstill were a few years ago, descendants of these half-animal tribes\nor races, both of remote Lemurian and Lemuro-Atlantean origin.\nThe world knows them as Tasmanians (now extinct), Australians,\nAndaman Islanders, etc. The descent of the Tasmanians can be almost\nproved by a fact, which struck Darwin a good deal, without his\nbeing able to make anything of it. This fact deserves notice.\n\nNow de Quatrefages and other naturalists, who seek to prove Monogenesis\nby the very fact of every race of mankind being capable of crossing\nwith every other, have left out of their calculations *exceptions*,\nwhich do not in this case confirm the rule. Human crossing may\nhave been a general rule from the time of the separation of sexes,\nand yet that other law may assert itself, viz., sterility between\ntwo human races, just as between two animal species of various\nkinds, in those rare cases when a European, condescending to see\nin a female of a savage tribe a mate, happens to chose a member\nof such mixed tribes.* Darwin notes such\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* Of such semi-animal creatures, the sole remnants known to Ethnology\nwere the Tasmanians, a *portion *of the Australians and\na mountain tribe in China, the men and women of which are entirely\ncovered with hair. They were the last descendants in a *direct\n*line of the semi-animal latter-day Lemurians referred to.\nThere are, however, considerable numbers of the mixed Lemuro-Atlantean\npeoples produced by various [[Footnote continued on next page]]\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 196 THE SECRET DOCTRINE.\n\na case in a Tasmanian tribe, whose women were suddenly struck\nwith sterility, *en masse, *some time after the arrival\namong them of the European colonists. The great naturalist tried\nto explain this fact by change of diet, food, conditions, etc.,\nbut finally gave up the solution of the mystery. For the Occultist\nit is a very evident one. \"Crossing,\" as it is called,\nof Europeans with Tasmanian women -- *i.e*., the representatives\nof a race, whose progenitors were a \"soulless\"* and\nmindless monster and a real human, though still as mindless a\nman -- brought on sterility. This, not alone as a consequence\nof a physiological law, but also as a decree of *Karmic *evolution\nin the question of further survival of the abnormal race. In no\none point of the above is Science prepared to believe *as yet\n*-- but it will have to in the long run. Esoteric philosophy,\nlet us remember, only fills the gaps made by science and corrects\nher false premises.\n\nYet, in this particular, geology and even botany and zoology support\nthe esoteric teachings. It has been suggested by many geologists\nthat the Australian native -- co-existing as he does with an *archaic\nfauna and flora -*- must date back to an enormous antiquity.\nThe whole environment of this mysterious race, about whose origin\nethnology is silent, is a testimony to the truth of the esoteric\nposition.\n\n####### \"It is a very curious fact,\" says Jukes,** \"that\nnot only these marsupial animals (the mammals found in the Oxfordshire\nstone-field slates), but several of the shells -- as for instance,\nthe Trigonias and even some of the plants found fossil\nin the Oolitic rocks -- much more nearly resemble those now living\nin Australia than the living forms of any other part of the globe.\nThis might be explained on the supposition that, since the 0olitic\n(Jurassic) period, less change has taken place in Australia\nthan elsewhere, and that the Australian flora and fauna consequently\nretain. Some-\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n[[Footnote continued from previous page]] crossings with such\nsemi-human stocks -- *e.g.*, the wild men of Borneo, the\nVeddhas of Ceylon, classed by Prof. Flower among Aryans (!), most\nof the remaining Australians, Bushmen, Negritos, Andaman Islanders,\netc.\n\nThe Australians of the Gulf of St. Vincent and the neighbourhood\nof Adelaide are *very hairy, *and the brown down on the\nskin of boys of five or six years of age assumes a *furry appearance.\n*They are, however, degraded *men* -- not the closest\napproximation to the* *\"*pithecoid *man,\"\nas Haeckel so sweepingly affirms. Only a portion of these men\nare a Lemurian relic. (Cf. \"*Esoteric Buddhism,*\"\np*.*55.)\n\n* In calling the animal \"Soulless,\" it is not depriving\nthe beast, from the humblest to the highest species, of a \"soul,\"\nbut only of a conscious surviving *Ego-soul, i.e., *that\nprinciple which survives after a man, and reincarnates in a like\nman. The animal has an astral body, that survives the physical\nform for a short period; but its (animal) Monad does not re-incarnate\nin the same, but in a higher species, and has no \"Devachan\"\nof course. It has the *seeds *of all the human principles\nin itself, but they are *latent.*\n\n** \"*Manual of Geology,*\"* *p. 302.\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 197 THE SEPARATION OF SEXES.\n\nthing of the Oolitic type, *while it had been altogether supplanted\nand replaced on the rest of the Globe.*\"* *(!\n!)\n\nNow why has less change taken place in Australia than elsewhere?\nWhere is the *raison d*'*etre *for such a \"curse\nof retardation\"? It is simply because the nature of the environment\ndevelops *pari passu *with the race concerned. Correspondences\nrule in every quarter. The survivors of those later Lemurians,\nwho escaped the destruction of their fellows when the main continent\nwas submerged, became the ancestors of a portion of the present\nnative tribes. Being a very low sub-race, begotten originally\nof animals, of monsters, whose very fossils are now resting miles\nunder the sea floors, their stock has since existed in an environment\nstrongly subjected to the *law of retardation. *Australia\nis one of the oldest lands now above the waters, and in the senile\ndecrepitude of old age, its \"*virgin *soil\" notwithstanding.\nIt can produce no new forms, unless helped by new and fresh races,\nand artificial cultivation and breeding.\n\nTo return, however, once more to the history of the Third Race,\nthe \"Sweat-Born,\" the \"Egg-bearing,\" and the\n\"Androgyne.\" Almost sexless, in its early beginnings,\nit became bisexual or androgynous; very gradually of course. The\npassage from the former to the latter transformation required\nnumberless generations, during which the simple cell that issued\nfrom the earliest parent (the two in one), first developed into\na bisexual being; and then the cell, becoming a regular egg, gave\nforth a unisexual creature. The Third-Race-mankind is the most\nmysterious of all the hitherto developed five Races. The mystery\nof the \"How\" of the generation of the distinct sexes\nmust, of course, be very obscure here, as it is the business of\nan embryologist and a specialist, the present work giving only\nfaint outlines of the process. But it is evident that the units\nof the Third Race humanity began to separate in their pre-natal\nshells, or eggs,* and to issue out of them as distinct male and\nfemale babes, ages after the appearance of its early progenitors.\nAnd, as time rolled on its geological periods, the newly born\nsub-races began to lose their natal capacities. Toward the end\nof the fourth *sub-race, *the babe lost its faculty of\nwalking as soon as liberated from its shell, and by the end of\nthe fifth, mankind was born under the same conditions and by the\nsame identical process as our historical generations. This required,\nof course, millions of years. The\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* The \"fables\" and \"myths\" about Leda and\nJupiter, and such like, could never have sprung up in people's\nfancy, had not the allegory rested on a fact in nature. Evolution,\ngradually transforming man into a mammal, did in his case only\nwhat it did in that of other animals. But this does not prevent\nman from having always stood at the head of the animal world and\nother organic species, and from having preceded the former.\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 198 THE SECRET DOCTRINE.\n\nreader has been made acquainted with the approximate figures,\nat least of the exoteric calculations, in Stanza **II**.\n\nWe are approaching the turning-point of the evolution of the Races.\nLet us see what occult philosophy says on the origin of language.\n\n-------\n\n36. **T**HE **F**OURTH **R**ACE\nDEVELOPED **S**PEECH.\n\nThe Commentaries explain that the first Race -- the ethereal or\nastral Sons of Yoga, also called \"Self-born\" -- was,\nin our sense, speechless, as it was devoid of mind on our plane.\nThe Second Race had a \"Sound-language,\" to wit, chant-like\nsounds composed of vowels alone. The Third Race developed in the\nbeginning a kind of language which was only a slight improvement\non the various sounds in Nature, on the cry of gigantic insects\nand of the first animals, which, however, were hardly nascent\nin the day of the \"Sweat-born\" (the *early *Third\nRace). In its second half, when the \"Sweat-born\" gave\nbirth to the \"Egg-born,\" (the *middle *Third\nRace); and when these, instead of \"hatching out\" (may\nthe reader pardon the rather ridiculous expression when applied\nto human beings in our age) as androgynous beings, began to evolve\ninto separate males and females; and when the same law of evolution\nled them to reproduce their kind sexually, an act which forced\nthe creative gods, compelled by Karmic law, to incarnate in *mindless\n*men; then only was speech developed. But even then it was\nstill no better than a tentative effort. The whole human race\nwas at that time of \"one language and of one lip.\" This\ndid not prevent the last two Sub-Races of the Third Race* from\nbuilding cities, and sowing far and wide the first seeds of civilization\nunder the guidance of their divine instructors,** and their own\nalready awakened minds. Let the reader also bear in mind that,\nas each of the seven races is divided into four ages -- the Golden,\nSilver, Bronze, and Iron Age -- so is every smallest division\nof such races.*** Speech then developed, according to occult teaching,\nin the following order: --\n\nI. Monosyllabic speech; that of the first approximately fully\ndeveloped human beings at the close of the Third Root-race, the\n\"golden-coloured,\" yellow-complexioned men, after their\nseparation into sexes, and the full\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* To avoid confusion, let the reader remember that the term Root-Race\napplies to one of the seven great Races, sub-Race to one of its\ngreat Branches, and Family-Race to one of the sub-divisions, which\ninclude nations and large tribes.\n\n** In the Section on the Divine Dynasties, the nature of these\n\"Instructors\" is explained.\n\n**** Vide* Section attached to the \"Divisions into\nYugas.\"\n\n####### [[Vol. 2, Page]] 199 PRIMEVAL LANGUAGE.\n\nawakening of their minds. Before that, they communicated through\nwhat would now be called \"thought-transference,\" though,\nwith the exception of the Race called the \"Sons of Will and\nYoga\" -- the first in whom the \"Sons of Wisdom\"\nhad incarnated -- thought was but very little developed in nascent\nphysical man, and never soared above a low terrestrial level.\nTheir physical bodies belonging to the Earth, their Monads remained\non a higher plane altogether. Language could not be well developed\nbefore the full acquisition and development of their reasoning\nfaculties. This monosyllabic speech was the vowel parent, so to\nspeak, of the monosyllabic languages mixed with hard consonants,\nstill in use amongst the yellow races which are known to the anthropologist.*\n\n**II**. These linguistic characteristics developed\ninto the agglutinative languages. The latter were spoken by some\nAtlantean races, while other parent stocks of the Fourth Race\npreserved the mother-language. And as languages have their cyclic\nevolution, their childhood, purity, growth, *fall into matter,\n*admixture with other languages, maturity, decay and finally\ndeath,** so the primitive speech of the most civilized Atlantean\nraces -- that language, which is referred to as \"Rakshasi\nBhasa,\" in old Sanskrit works -- decayed and almost died\nout. While the \"cream\" of the Fourth Race gravitated\nmore and more toward the apex of physical and intellectual evolution,\nthus leaving as an heirloom to the nascent Fifth (the Aryan) Race\nthe inflectional, highly developed languages, the agglutinative\ndecayed and remained as a fragmentary fossil idiom, scattered\nnow, and nearly limited to the aboriginal tribes of America.\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* The present yellow races are the descendants, however, of the\nearly branches of the Fourth Race. Of the third, the only *pure\nand direct *descendants are, as said above, a portion of the\nfallen and degenerated Australians, whose far distant ancestors\nbelonged to a division of the seventh Sub-race of the Third. The\nrest are of mixed Lemuro-Atlantean descent. They have since then\nentirely changed in stature and intellectual capacities.\n\n*** Language *is certainly coeval with reason, and could\nnever have been developed before men became one with the informing\nprinciples in them -- those who fructified and awoke to life the\nmanasic element dormant in primitive man. Logos is both reason and speech. But\nlanguage, proceeding in cycles, is not always adequate to express\n*spiritual *thoughts. Moreover, in one sense, the Greek\nLogos is the equivalent of the Sanscrit Vach, \"the immortal\n(intellectual) ray of spirit.\" And the fact that Vach (as\nDevasena, an *aspect *of Saraswati, the goddess of hidden\nWisdom) is the spouse of the eternal celibate Kumara, unveils\na suggestive, though veiled, reference to the *Kumaras, *those\n\"who refused to create,\" but who were compelled later\non to complete *divine* Man by incarnating in him. The inflectional speech -- the root of the\nSanskrit, very erroneously called \"the elder sister\"\nof the Greek, instead of its mother -- was the first language\n(now the mystery tongue of the Initiates, of the Fifth Race).\nAt any rate, the \"Semitic\" languages are the bastard\ndescendants of the first phonetic corruptions of the eldest children\nof the early Sanskrit. The occult doctrine admits of no such divisions\nas the Aryan and the Semite, accepting even the Turanian with\nample reservations. The Semites, especially the Arabs, are later\nAryans -- degenerate in spirituality and perfected in materiality.\nTo these belong all the Jews and the Arabs. The former are a tribe\ndescended from the Tchandalas of India, the outcasts, many of\nthem ex-Brahmins, who sought refuge in Chaldea, in Scinde, and\nAria (Iran), and were truly born from their father A-bram (No\nBrahmin) some 8,000 years **B.C.** The latter, the\nArabs, are the descendants of those Aryans who would not go into\nIndia at the time of the dispersion of nations, some of whom remained\non the borderlands thereof, in Afghanistan and Kabul,* and along\nthe Oxus, while others penetrated into and invaded Arabia.\n\nBut this was when Africa had already been raised as a continent.\nWe have meanwhile to follow, as closely as limited space will\npermit, the gradual evolution of the now truly human species.\nIt is in the suddenly arrested evolution of certain sub-races,\nand their forced and violent diversion into the purely animal\nline by artificial cross-breeding, truly analogous to the hybridization,\nwhich we have now learned to utilize in the vegetable and animal\nkingdoms, that we have to look for the origin of the anthropoids.\n\n####### [[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------\n\n* Ptolemy, speaking in his ninth table of the *Kabolitae *(Kabul\ntribes), calls them [[*Aristophuloi]], *the aristocratic\nor *noble tribes. *The Afghans call themselves *Ben-Issrael\n*(children of Is(*sa*)rael), from *Issa, *\"woman\nand also earth,\" Sons of Mother Earth. But if you call an\nAfghan *Yahoudi* (*Jew*),* *he will kill\nyou. The subject is fully treated elsewhere. The names of the\nsupposed twelve tribes and the names of the real tribes, the same\nin number, of the Afghans, are the same. The Afghans being far\nolder (at any rate, their Arabic stock) than the Israelites, no\none need be surprised to find such tribal names among them as\n*Youssoufzic, *\"Sons of Joseph\" in Punjcaure\nand Boonere; the *Zablistanee *(Zebulon); Ben-manasseh\n(sons of Manasseh) among the Khojar Tartars; Isaguri, or Issachar\n(now Ashnagor in Afghanistan), etc., etc. The whole twelve names\nof the so-called twelve tribes are names of the signs of the Zodiac,\nas is now well proven. At any rate, the names of the oldest Arabic\ntribes, re-transliterated, yield the names of the zodiacal signs\nand of the mythical sons of Jacob likewise. Where are the traces\nof the Jewish twelve tribes? Nowhere. But there is a trace, and\na good one, that the Jews have tried to deceive people with the\nhelp of those names. For, see what happens *ages after the\nten tribes *had wholly disappeared from Babylon. Ptolemy Philadelphus,\ndesiring to have the Hebrew Law translated for him into Greek\n(the famous *Septuagint*),* *wrote to the high priest\nof the Jews, Eleazar, to *send him six men from each of the\ntwelve tribes*;* *and the *seventy-two representatives\n*(of whom sixty were ghosts apparently) came to the king in\nEgypt and translated the law amid miracles and wonders. Thus by a long series\nof transformations due to unnatural cross-breeding (unnatural\n\"sexual selection\"), originated in due course of time\nthe lowest specimens of humanity; while further bestiality and\nthe fruit of their first animal efforts of reproduction begat\na species which developed into mammalian apes ages later.*\n\nAs to the separation of sexes, it did not occur suddenly, as one\nmay think. Till then, there was no sin,\nno life taken. After *(the separation) *the Satya *(Yuga)\n*was at an end. The eternal spring became constant change and\nseasons succeeded. Cold forced men to build shelters and devise\nclothing. Then man appealed to the superior Fathers *(the\nhigher gods or angels). *The Nirmanakaya of the Nagas, the\nwise Serpents and Dragons of Light came, and the precursors of\nthe Enlightened *(Buddhas). *Divine Kings descended and\ntaught men sciences and arts, for man could live no longer in\nthe first land *(Adi-Varsha, the Eden of the first Races),\n*which had turned into a white frozen corpse.*\"\n\nThe above is suggestive.
