Letter to Edith Maryon
Rudolf Steiner to Edith Maryon
Penmaenmawr, 27 August 1923
My dear Edith Maryon!
This is the view of the slate hills from my window. Everything here is full of Druidic memories, into which the most modern things are inserted in strange contrast. They are having a hideous row here about the school. Pethick handed me a very agitated memorandum about it.
The enterprise here is going very well; the lectures are always followed with attention; last night I gave an extra lecture on eurythmy; tomorrow night there will be one on medicine.
I see from the last letter, for which I thank you very much, that the story about not having a program has been misunderstood after all. My main lectures are regularly at 10:15; the eurythmy performances were on Thursday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and will still be on Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 p.m. They were even publicly announced. Everything else is flexible, and that is good. It is easier to plan. For the discussions, only the regular audience that is present for the entire course needs to come.
I am in good health; and little by little I have also acquired some conveniences in the hotel. Of course people cannot suddenly introduce electric light, for example. And much more of the same.
But it is really very strange here. It was important for me to have stood physically in front of Druidic memories for once. But I would like to be back in Dornach.
The spiritual atmosphere here is such that through thinking, the imaginations easily inscribe themselves into the ether, as if one were drawing them with a pencil into the air.
Cars and the like are in stark contrast to this. Eurythmy is also very well received here. Hopefully, health will improve. I am thinking of this and sending
my warmest thoughts
Rudolf Steiner
