Zarathustra's Initiatic Legacy: Christ Preparation Through Bodies
GA 266I — 21 December 1908, Berlin
Esoteric Lesson
The holy Zarathustra could not have reflected on what was given to him in moments of high ecstasy. He received the influence of the Sun Spirit directly, he saw the Aura Mazdao and in it the Christ. He prepared the impulse that the Christ was to bring to Earth. He initiated his disciple Moses in this way: one day at noon, when the moon was new, he let him see, through a power he sent to his head, the moon spirit: the devachanic sound of the reflected sunlight. And he directly initiated Hermes into the secret of the Sun Spirit. At midnight on Christmas Eve, after having previously received the power of the Sun Spirit through him, he allowed him to see the sun at midnight through the transparent earth. The Osiris-Isis-Horus service flows out of this. Zarathustra reappeared as Zarathos or Nazarathos and was the teacher of Pythagoras, who led the mysteries in Greek times as the final preparation for the appearance of Christ. The king under whom Zarathustra taught was later incarnated as Cyrus; and later in the Middle Ages, Cyrus was again a king (Charlemagne??).1 Moses was initiated with the powers of the etheric body; Hermes with the powers of the astral body, Jesus spoke to us through the I, which permeates all three bodies. That is why he says: You shall love God with all your heart = physical body, with all your psyche = soul (etheric body), with all your strength = etheric [astral] body,2 all your mind = I.
Zarathustra had given Moses the power of his own etheric body, Hermes the power of his astral body, and Jesus he had given his ego. As Zarathustra himself, he worked through his physical body.
