Zarathustra's Ego and the Three Initiatic Streams

GA 266I — 28 December 1908, Berlin

Esoteric Lesson

Zarathustra - his earthly protector was King Vishtasp, who later spread and consolidated Zarathustra's teachings as Cyrus.

Nazaras or Nazaranos, a Chaldean initiate, was the ego of Zarathustra. He inspired Pythagoras, who thereby prepared Christianity in Greece. Then the ego of Zarathustra incarnated in Jesus of Nazareth, who was therefore able to receive Christ himself into his body.

Zarathustra had his disciples: in Hermes, his teachings reached the astral body, in Moses to the etheric body, and in Pythagoras to the physical body.

The initiation of Hermes took place at Christmas time, and he saw what was later to be given to humanity in the mystery of Golgotha. He saw the entire development of the planets and everything connected with it.

Moses' initiation went into the etheric body. Zarathustra was able to give him this from his own light body. In storms, tempests, and fog, he saw the sun only faintly, but the moon in its first quarter clearly. That is why Yahweh later appeared to him in the burning bush.

Pythagoras' initiation went into the physical body, and he brought this to humanity in his teachings.

The seven holy Rishis were guided by Manu, each of them was initiated into the mysteries of a planet, but Zarathustra was initiated into the mysteries of the sun, of Christ himself.
