Record B

A famous inscription, the Delphic E, stood above the portal of the temple at Delphi. It means: “You are” (second person of the present indicative of the verb “to be”). Plutarch says it was the greeting of the deity to those who entered the temple. The Delphic E means the number five, or half of the zodiac, that is, the five ascending signs. The Delphic E is also the anchor of the Seleucids (?). It was adopted by the Gnostics to refer to the “Savior” and is often found among the talismans and amulets of early Christians.
