The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1912–1918
GA 277a — 7 September 1915, Dornach
The Apollonian Course XVIII
Form for four-line stanzas with a repeating fourth line
For three-line stanzas with refrain, dictated by Dr. Steiner in the 1915 course and briefly outlined.
Fercher von Steinwand: “My Ideals” A lonely house full of love's delight,
A forest, a spring in the green valley,
A life spent in springtime and sunshine,
That was my ideal. A friend with a German soul,
Inspiring me in joy and pain,
For me, even when I fall and fail,
That was my ideal. A woman in my own living room,
Faithful as steel in value and will,
Plus a healthy boy,
That was my ideal. A great master who coolly
Shines the truth with the ray of his mind
Down into my feelings,
That was my ideal. A prince with energy in his veins
And men, not pale with discontent,
And brave hearts without strife,
That was my ideal.
From here: square shift
How gladly I let them fade away
All those dear images,
I can exchange them for the highest,
A beloved ideal! A noble people, ruling sensibly,
Who, above every torment of suffering,
Unfolds its soul more courageously,
The world's ideal A Germany on the battlements of humanity,
A pillar of strength in the hall of the world,
Cast-iron on the outside and on the inside,
Itself the ideal Do you also lose yourself in the distance,
My ideal of purest choice:
With you I would ascend to the stars,
With you, my ideal!
Poems with three lines and a fourth as a repetition are danced by three with a fourth in the middle. The repetition is separated from the figure.
Upbeat for four-line stanzas with a repeating fourth line:
S [L. Smits] L [Liesli, Elisabeth Dollfus] E [Erna Wolfram] KIT. Kisseleff]
First consonantal and vocalic. In a triangle and circle. “My Ideals”
During the second line, S [Lory Smits] slowly moves to the place of L [Elisabeth Dollfus].
The figure first moves around with a musical motif, then verse by verse.
The repetition is recorded.
