125. “Lord Quex”
A comedy in four acts by Arthur W. Pinero
Performance at the Lessing Theater, Berlin
The Lessing Theater staged "Lord Quex", a comedy in four acts by Arthur W. Pinero, on January 13. If this performance had no other meaning than to show us a dramatic work that has been performed countless times in London to great acclaim, we could be satisfied. After all, it is good when we have the opportunity to get to know what interests another people. The performance would be justified by this alone, but it is also more so in other respects than the daily critics are willing to admit. One finds the comedy boring. But that depends entirely on your personality. Without wanting to overestimate "Lord Quex" in any way: there is more spirit in it than in "Tugendhof", which was recently handled with such tender hands by the critics. But Pinero lives in London - that's a long way away. One judges more objectively there.
