72. A New Theory of Geothermal Energy

A new theory of the earth's heat, which Dr. Otterbein put forward in the Allgemeine Deutsche Universitätszeitung, deserves attention. The earth is subject to two movements, the rotation around its axis and the rotation around the sun. These movements partly inhibit each other. And since in this way the work done by the movement is lost, according to the general law of physics, according to which heat is generated from apparently lost work, the earth's heat, which is constantly disappearing through radiation into space, must be renewed. The earth would therefore not be doomed to gradually cool down to complete rigor mortis, but could remain forever young.
