With this issue, the "Magazin für Literatur" begins its 67th year.

The fact that this magazine can look back on a 66-year history is proof that its existence is widely perceived as a necessary one.

This long existence also guarantees that the "Magazin" is managed in a way that meets the needs of a large readership. The experience that has been gained over many years regarding the demands of this circle benefits the current management.

This management will strive to realize the goals of the magazine in a way that corresponds to the tasks of the present day.

The "Magazin" aims to present a picture of contemporary intellectual life. The poetic and artistic development is to be followed through works from the pens of connoisseurs and played out through the achievements of important poets and writers.

The scientific achievements of the time should be discussed appropriately and in detail. The management will endeavor to provide readers with reports and assessments as quickly as possible on all issues affecting the present and on progress in all areas of intellectual life.

The social and political trends of the time are to be taken into account in the "Magazin". Without touching on the politics of the day, political issues, insofar as they are cultural issues, will be discussed.

Free, unreserved judgment and honest artistic creation should find a place in "Magazin".

From this issue onwards, part of the "Magazin" will be published as a dramaturgical supplement. The aim of this supplement is to promote all tasks related to theater life. The management of the magazine hopes that this new publication will significantly increase the number of interested readers.
