ABOUT THE SOURCES: Due to the diversity of the sources, two versions are presented side by side. The first version is based on the minutes of the Greater Stuttgart Workers' Council meeting. The second version consists of a summary of Rudolf Steiner's remarks by an unknown author and a reconstruction of the various contributions to the discussion based on Rudolf Steiner's notes. The wording of the second version, insofar as it concerns the discussion, is therefore an interpretation based on the available textual fragments and should therefore be regarded as incomplete and only authentic to a limited extent. Rudolf Steiner's notes are printed in Appendix I. The text passages taken from them are set in italics.
