Drafts and prose sketches on individual events

This, my friends,
Is an act that has a tremendous impact
On the workings of human progress.
A book like other books lies
Seemingly before people's eyes,
But what emanates from this book
Has an effect on thousands
And thousands upon thousands of souls
We have often heard proclaimed
The great mystery of existence
But that reason so completely convincing
And genuine science the message
Founded on a firm spirit of research
What is necessary to solve the mystery,
It is the great miracle of the mind
Before which we stand in awe.

This could only be accomplished by a person
Who was first allowed to sharpen their mind
Through true artistry. What he has to say,
Is drawn from deep sources of truth
But only those who, through artistic sensibility,
Can forge paths into the shafts of the world,
Can penetrate such depths.

There will hardly be a soul in this circle
Who doubts
That Thomasius's spiritual achievement
Brings liberation to countless expectations
But the first thought must not be
How little in our time
Humanity is inclined
To be convinced
Therefore, the most important thing at this hour
Is to consider means
How to make the imperishable good
For all future
What has begun here so powerfully.

STRADER:
We are faced with an act
That seems to be the same
As many other acts of the spirit
But it has one thing that distinguishes it
In the deepest way from what
Already existed in a similar form.
In all previous attempts
No one ever reckoned with a way of thinking
On which the entire future of humanity
Must now rest.
The things of which
Johannes Thomasius speaks
Could never before be effective
Because they were not said
As he does — believe me
I who have turned away from all flights of fancy
And all mystical, vain musings
In sorrow and discontent
And have devoted my mental powers to things
That have a basis in reality
Underfoot.
Despair has turned me away from the practice of life
And I hoped to find nothing
But numbness.
But the powers of my mind
Pushed me from idea to idea
And so I succeeded
In coming up with things in the technical field
Which, through mechanics
Can promote the earthly welfare of mankind.
And those who have become accustomed
Such a direction in life
Lacks any inclination
To fall back into vain dreams of thought.
But Thomasius is the researcher of the mind
To whom every connoisseur of nature
Can agree with complete satisfaction.

Man should live in inner contemplation of the creation of the natural kingdoms; They should be a part of this creative process = Lucifer separated this part: he made the judgment — took away the power of this judgment to transform the organism — The judgment is thus separated from the sources of existence = Development therefore extends to the external process, which is supplied with matter by Ahr. —

Future perspective: Mastery of the forces, so that beauty and strength arise without inner carrying power. External culture. — Sight of the fruits — A separate realm would arise if the sight of the spiritual world remained: Ahr within things, Luz outside of humans. The interior of the universe would reveal itself in humans.

Elevation to the height of the intellectual conception of the world — such for those belonging to the original meaning of life — separated from man — man enters the realm by retaining the longing for the other — the W. d. Sch. [Guardian of the Threshold] points out that the following must be lost: independence — directing one's gaze to the outside world — the ability to transform —

Ahriman is able to transform Theodora's thinking in such a way that it affects all worlds and all hearts respond to him — but her feelings live as living fire in all such effects;

Lucifer — can present Mary with insight into all worlds; this gives rise to compassion for Lucifer within her — but he spurns this; he does not want to lose himself — since he tempted human beings, he has been waiting for a soul that can fall for him without compassion. — So he must continue to wait. — Mary's renunciation of knowledge —

Theodora — can give Lucifer insight into human hearts, reveal to him their desire for knowledge; thus he can integrate himself into the human world through her, and in the course of time she passes into his and Ahriman's realm —

The image that Thomasius paints of the course of the world — it has no more validity than the forces that work into his soul from many worlds — as the struggle now rages around him, his mental image falls into nothingness with himself and with it all those who believe in him —

One could describe a world in which it is not Homer, Lycurgus, etc. who are active, but Achilles, Agamemnon, Faust, etc. — But then Goethe would seem small next to Faust, for it is only his biographers who have described him. —

In relation to the higher worlds, the awareness awakens that human beings live in them with their deeper nature; but that the powers he has in his world to represent these higher worlds to himself and thus to earthly existence in general are only a botched job; thus man lives dissatisfied with his earthly spirit;

Clarity Order Life
Darkness Confusion Death

Benedictus Capesius can only say that John's knowledge is effective only if the powers for this effectiveness come from the dominion of Lucifer and Ahriman — Capesius cannot bear this — and Benedictus must carry it as a [corpse] into the earthly world — that is, it has lost its spiritual power there —

Mary must feel condemned to powerlessness as a result —
