88. On the Realization of the Mystery of Golgotha

The mystic finds only the spirit of bodily existence – But that gives the spiritless nature –

Christ is only found when it is seen how the human body, through the soul left to its own devices, is brought to the “earth” instead of being destined for the upper world - so it must be seen that the inherited impulses are insufficient and that salvation comes through devotion to Christ. One must find a divine in the world.

In all pre-mysteries, the recognition that God lives - without realizing that this means nothing to man.

In the physical-organic: the general idea of God.

In the soul: Christ.

In the spirit: the spirit.

Knowledge can be misused: for example, certain secrets connected with the mystery of Golgotha, as long as this knowledge can rest in souls that do not connect it with the right part of the soul - the so-called initiates bind those to whom they communicate the secrets, so that only the effect of these secrets comes from them. When initiates no longer hold the “keys” in their hands, they make the others co-owners - is that always out of self-interest? Not when it is connected with the laws of the universe. — So Saint-Martin, when he speaks of the original

“adultery”:

However much I would like to get to that point, my obligations forbid me from making the slightest comment on this point; and besides, for the sake of my own good, I would rather blush over the transgressions of man than talk about them.

An awareness that permeates itself with Christ] the Risen One breaks away from the ways of earthly-material existence – guilt is divided into two parts:

1.) that committed through the impulses of heredity

2.) that caused in the mind.

1.) Belongs to earthly existence and cannot be directly redeemed by the spirit.

2.) That which can be incorporated into the spirit enters into the current of fate. If now the spirit had to lose the soul, it could indeed redeem all guilt that it had committed against others, including that against nature, but not what it had done against the Godhead by becoming guilty. It would thus fall away from its origin.

The Mystery of Golgotha refers to the relationship between humanity and the Deity.

Death would have to be brought about as an act of humanity, but humanity should not commit this act. It may therefore appear that humanity has brought about its own salvation through its guilt. This guilt is not an end but an effect.

It can only be redeemed by releasing the bound consciousness —

Through the confession: “For this guilt I was born through belonging to mankind on earth; I release myself from it by belonging to the Kingdom of Christ, which ‘is not of this world.’

The earthly human powers cannot recognize the earthly-divine —

In Christ Jesus, something is accomplished on earth that otherwise cannot be accomplished in the earthly body; something is done on earth that can only be caused by earthly ignorance.

The resurrection is the answer to the “why have you forsaken me?”
