Eine Gretchen-Weisheit ist es! Man muß die Dinge nur ernst nehmen. Die Gelehrten sind nur aufgesessen. Sie haben dasjenige, was eine Gretchen-Weisheit ist, für tiefe Philosophie genommen. Und so wird denn auch das, was da als Bibelübersetzung bei Faust auftritt, für eine ganz besonders tiefe Weisheit genommen, während Goethe nichts anderes darstellen will als wie Wahrheit und Irrtum den Menschen hin und her werfen, wenn er an eine solche Aufgabe geht.
