The student must work his way upward to the realization that his thoughts and feelings are as important for the world as his actions. It must be realized that it is equally injurious to hate a fellow-being as to strike him.* The realization will then follow that by perfecting ourselves we accomplish something not only for ourselves, but for the whole world. The world derives equal benefit from our untainted feelings and thoughts as from our good demeanor, and as long as we cannot believe in this cosmic importance of our inner life, we are unfit for the path that is here described. We are only filled with the right faith in the significance of our inner self, of our soul, when we work at it s though it were at least as real as all external things. We must admit that our every feeling produces an effect, just as does every action of our hand.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Conditions of Esoteric Training","site_heading":null,"date":null,"location":null,"word_count":164,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/10/l04/p006","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:structural_identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":null,"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["HR1960","MAC1909","RSPC1947"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/10/l05/p006","locus":"GA 10/l05/p006","anchor_mapped":true,"anchor_method":"curated","anchor_confidence":"high"},{"lang":"en","edition":"RSPC1947","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/10/l04/p006","paragraph_aligned":true},{"lang":"en","edition":"HR1960","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":false,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/10/l08/p006?edition=HR1960","locus":"GA 10/l08/p006","anchor_mapped":true,"anchor_method":"curated","anchor_confidence":"high"}],"german_anchor":{"de_prefix":"l05","de_passages":[{"locus":"GA 10/l05/p006","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/10/l05/p006"}],"bead_confidence":"medium","pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false,"length_check":{"de_words":161,"en_words":164,"ratio":1.02,"partial":false},"correspondence":"established","note":"English passage numbering is edition-relative, so the same number need not name the same paragraph in the German.
