As the warrior experienced his first meeting with the Valkyre upon the battlefield, it was obvious that those who sought initiation had to experience this in physical life. In one part of Europe Siegfried was looked on as the last of the heroes of initiation. This fact is preserved in the legend of Siegfried, which tells how the hero united himself with the Valkyre during life, just as dying warriors did upon the battlefield.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":106,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/105/1908-08-13/p019","german_anchor":{"de_prefix":"1908-08-13","de_passages":[{"locus":"GA 105/1908-08-13/p010","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/105/1908-08-13/p010"}],"bead_confidence":"high","length_check":{"de_words":128,"en_words":106,"ratio":0.83,"partial":false},"correspondence":"established","note":"English passage numbering is edition-relative, so the same number need not name the same paragraph in the German.
