Daher bemühe ich mich auch, Ihnen da, wo ich Ihnen erzähle aus höheren Welten, ab und zu mit Nüchternheit, mit Trockenheit zu kommen, entsprechend einer streng wissenschaftlichen Betrachtung des physischen Planes. Das entspricht der Pflicht: zu beobachten, daß der Mensch auf den physischen Plan gestellt ist, damit er den physischen Plan verstehen lernt. Unsere Zeit hat ein Zweifaches notwendig. Das eine ist, wirklich in entsagungsvollem Denken den physischen Plan zu studieren, auf den wir nicht umsonst durch die großen Weltgesetze gestellt sind. Mag heute noch so viel Scharfsinn aufgewendet werden von der gewöhnlichen Wissenschaft auf die Dinge: sie wird notwendig irren, wenn sie nicht zum Führer hat die okkulte Wissenschaft, die ihr die Richtung geben kann. Nachdem die Menschheit an der Wende des 15., 16., 17. Jahrhunderts an einem Punkt gestanden hat, wo die physische Forschung im heutigen Sinne geboren worden ist und daher das Hauptaugenmerk darauf gewendet werden konnte, sind wir heute schon wieder so weit, daß neben diese physische Forschung jetzt eine andere, die okkulte Forschung treten muß, die der physischen Forschung die Richtlinien geben kann. Damit aber, daß er dies nicht nur weiß, sondern es in seine Pflichten aufnimmt, erfüllt der Okkultist etwas, was unsere Zeit als ein Zweifaches in sich aufnehmen muß: ein Gefühl dafür, daß wir fest stehen sollen auf dem physischen Plan, nicht davor zurückscheuen, uns auch in entsagungsvoller Weise dem Denken hinzugeben, und gerade die physischen Tatsachen erfordern ein entsagungsvolles Denken.
