As strange as it sounds, it is nevertheless true: this time of purification runs from back to front, so that we have the impression that we are first going through the last year of our physical life, then the year before last, and then the third last. And so we live through our lives, purifying and cleansing ourselves, as in a mirror image, going through it in such a way that it appears as if it were going from death to birth, and at the end of the time of purification we stand in the moment of birth. First old age, then middle age, all the way back to childhood, we go through life.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Human Being's Journey Through the World of the Senses, Soul and Spirit","site_heading":null,"date":"1910-03-21","location":null,"word_count":128,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/119/1910-03-21/p020","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"Singles","book_title":null,"publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA119/English/Singles/19100321p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/119/1910-03-21/p020"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/119/1910-03-21/p020","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
