All this is certainly there, but it is not the only thing. We also relive everything that we have already gone through spiritually between birth and death, we also relive the good events of life in such a way that we have them before us again, as it were, in a mirror image. We will soon see what that is like by looking at this time even more closely. Suppose a person had died at the age of 60. Then he first experiences the 59th, then the 58th, the 57th year of life and so on; he only experiences everything backwards in a kind of mirror image. What remains is that we feel as if we are poured out over the things and beings of the world, as if we are in all beings and things in it. Now let us take the fact that in a life that lasted until the age of 60, we would have offended someone at the age of 40. So we relive twenty years at triple speed. When we arrive at the age of 40, we relive the pain that we caused the other person, but we do not experience what we went through at the time, but what the other person went through. If we have caused someone pain out of a sense of revenge or out of a surge of anger and then, after death, looking back, we come to that moment, we do not feel the satisfaction we experienced, but rather what the other person experienced. We are placed in his position in spirit. And so it is with everything we experience as we journey backwards in time. We relive all the good deeds we have done in life, the beneficial effects they have had on those around us.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Human Being's Journey Through the World of the Senses, Soul and Spirit","site_heading":null,"date":"1910-03-21","location":null,"word_count":323,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/119/1910-03-21/p021","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"Singles","book_title":null,"publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA119/English/Singles/19100321p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/119/1910-03-21/p021"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/119/1910-03-21/p021","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
