Hence the Greek culture was one which we can only understand if we try to do so from within, if we realize that in this culture what is important in external experience is that which pours forth from the inner nature of the Greeks. On the other hand the peoples lying more towards the West and the North have the task, under the guidance of their Folk-souls, of directing their gaze out into the world, and of seeing what is there to be seen on the physical plane, and of perfecting that which has to play a part on that plane. The Germanic Scandinavian peoples had also the special task of perfecting this as they alone could, because they still enjoyed the blessing of being able to see into the spiritual world with the old clairvoyance, and to carry the primeval experiences which they perceived so vividly, into that which had to be arranged on the physical plane.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Lecture X","site_heading":"Folk-Souls and the Evolution of Individual Consciousness","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator. Die germanisch-nordischen Völker hatten noch die besondere Aufgabe, daß sie das alles so ausbilden sollten, wie sie es ausbilden konnten, da sie noch die Gnade, die welthistorische Gnade genossen, im alten Hellsehen hineinzusehen in die geistige Welt und hineinzutragen die uralten Erfahrungen, die sie wie lebendig empfanden, in das, was auf dem physischen Plane eingerichtet werden sollte.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":177,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/121/1910-06-16/p009"}],"english":["GA 121/1910-06-16/p012"],"method":"length","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":177,"en_words":191,"ratio":1.08,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.1,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":6274,"original_word_count":5729,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"not_established","translator":null,"identified_edition":"APC1929","book_title":"The Mission of Folk-Souls","publisher":"Anthroposophical Publishing Co.","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA121/English/APC1929/19100616p01.html","evidence":null,"reason":"source_says_translator_unknown","note":"The source page itself says the translator is unknown.
