So profound that its sources must be sought in the secret teachings, not only of the Essenes, but of the ancient Hebrews, and the Greek world in general. Realization of this truth awakens in us a holy reverence and a profound respect for this document, a reverence which deepens when, furnished with the investigations of Spiritual Science, we meet with what the seers told us of old. When we hear that such things were related by the ancient seers, we feel as if we heard them speaking to us directly from far-off time. It is like the transmission of some spirit-language in which mighty individuals have conversed with one another throughout the centuries—so that those who have the will to hear can hear it. Those can hear at least who understand the words in the Gospel—‘He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!’","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The bringing forth of the secrets of the Mysteries","site_heading":"Christ's Temptation and the Ego in the Kingdom","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator. (Matth. 11, 15). Aber wie einst vieles dazu gehört hat, daß die physischen Ohren in uns entstanden sind, so gehört manches dazu, daß die geistigen Ohren entstehen, durch die wir verstehen, was in jenen großen, gewaltigen geistigen Urkunden gesagt wird.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":190,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/123/1910-09-08/p042"}],"english":["GA 123/1910-09-08/p043","GA 123/1910-09-08/p044"],"method":"length","confidence":"medium","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":190,"en_words":200,"ratio":1.05,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":0.89,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":6080,"original_word_count":6832,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"not_established","translator":null,"identified_edition":"RSPC1946","book_title":"The Gospel of St. Matthew (1946)","publisher":"Rudolf Steiner Publishing Co.","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA123/English/RSPC1946/19100908p01.html","evidence":null,"reason":"source_says_translator_unknown","note":"The source page itself says the translator is unknown.
