Scholars and laymen alike criticize the division of man into the four members of physical body, etheric body, astral body and ego.[^1] These skeptics often say that perhaps one who has developed hidden soul forces may be able to see these things but there is no reason why one who has not should concern himself with such ideas. It should be emphasized, however, that life itself, if one is attentive to it, confirms what spiritual science has to say. Furthermore, the things anthroposophy has to teach can be extremely useful in everyday life. This usefulness, which is not meant to be taken pragmatically, gradually comes to carry conviction even for those who are not particularly inclined to concern themselves with clairvoyant perception.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Overcoming Nervousness","site_heading":null,"date":"1912-01-11","location":null,"word_count":131,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/143/1912-01-11_02/p004","alignment_confidence":"low","alignment_reason":"count_diverges","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"not_established","translator":null,"identified_edition":"Singles","book_title":null,"publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA143/English/Singles/19120111p01.html","evidence":null,"reason":"no_translator_named","note":"Neither the lecture's own page nor rsarchive's lecture list names a translator for it.
