They were thoughts of faith that could wonderfully illuminate the region beyond death. These ideas were transformed into a true, spiritual light that revealed the environment beyond death to human beings. But the time will come when we will have to live in freedom. And even if new religious leaders were still to proclaim the old teachings of faith with the voice and the power of the gods, we would no longer understand them. We are experiencing this now. The sciences concerned with the outer world have arrived, as they had to. A great contemporary scientist, Max Müller, said that if an angel were to come down and proclaim news of the spiritual world, people would not understand or believe him.[^4]","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Presence of the Dead on the Spiritual Path","date":"1914-04-17","location":null,"word_count":133,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/154/1914-04-17/p013","alignment_confidence":"low","alignment_reason":"count_diverges","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"identified_edition":"AP1990","translator":"Christian von Arnim and edited by Joachim Reuter","publisher":"Anthroposophic Press","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA154/English/AP1990/PreDea_index.html"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/154/1914-04-17/p013"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/154/1914-04-17/p013","paragraph_aligned":true}],"german_anchor":{"de_prefix":"1914-04-17","de_passages":[{"locus":"GA 154/1914-04-17/p008","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/154/1914-04-17/p008"}],"bead_confidence":"medium","length_check":{"de_words":641,"en_words":436,"ratio":0.68,"partial":true},"correspondence":"partial","note":"PARTIAL CORRESPONDENCE.
