And if they do, they do something very strange. If he says to himself: “What the Greeks did in the Olympic Games was very clever, so we'll do the same,” then it's really very funny; because it means nothing other than if, for example, a twenty-five-year-old did not like studying at a university and would rather do what a five- or ten-year-old boy does. Simply to transpose Greek into our own time is the most ridiculous thing one could do; it is a betrayal of trust in the development of humanity. If we are to seek today for that which the Greeks sought in their own way in the Olympic Games, then eurythmy must become part of humanity. People must try to achieve bodily health from the soul by not allowing the etheric body to wither away, but by letting the physical body make the movements required by the etheric body. That is the hygienic side of eurythmy.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"An Age of Expectation","site_heading":null,"date":"1914-10-07","location":null,"word_count":206,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/156/1914-10-07/p050","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"Singles","book_title":null,"publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA156/English/Singles/19141007p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/156/1914-10-07/p050"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/156/1914-10-07/p050","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
