One need only open one's eyes to see that, especially today, everything that happens in the world seems to be a revolt against this awe, against reverence for the truth. Those who have reverence for the truth will wait a long time before making an assertion about something or passing judgment on it. Today there is a tendency to do the opposite, to feel as little respect as possible for the truth, but rather to shape the truth to suit one's own convenience, to suit one's own feelings and perceptions. The ability to wait until the truth reveals itself as the chaste divinity of the human soul is a feeling that can be said to It is truly necessary for today's humanity to acquire it. But external culture resists this acquisition; it is a culture in which it is important to fabricate messages and to communicate all facts as quickly as possible, as today's journalism does. The opposite mood is present to that which our spiritual science must produce in us. The way in which the world is presented today through the press and the media is the opposite of what must be striven for by spiritual science, by those who mean well by humanity. This must be admitted by those who want to belong to the spiritual science movement. The first is reverence for the truth.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Third Lecture","site_heading":"Spiritual Knowledge and the Renewal of Inner Experience","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator. Das erste ist Ehrfurcht vor der Wahrheit.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":288,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/162/1915-05-29/p054"}],"english":["GA 162/1915-05-29/p054"],"method":"identity","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":288,"en_words":282,"ratio":0.98,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.01,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":6645,"original_word_count":6608,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"Artistic and Existential Questions in the Light of Spiritual Science","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA162/English/SOL2024/19150529p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
