So I turned to the index again—but *I* does not occur at all! That is entirely consistent, of course. So we have as a matter of course a book on physiological psychology or psychiatry that does not mention the *I*! There is no reference to it in the index and, if you go through it, you will see that only the mental image of the *I* occurs, just a mental image of course. The author lets mental images pass, for they are only another word for mechanical processes of the brain. But the *I* as such does not figure at all; it is eliminated.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Lecture V","site_heading":"The I, Will, and Human Evolution's Spiritual Crisis","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator. Aber das Ich als solches kommt gar nicht vor, es ist ausgeschaltet.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":382,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/166/1916-02-08/p044"}],"english":["GA 166/1916-02-08/p059","GA 166/1916-02-08/p060"],"method":"length","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":382,"en_words":390,"ratio":1.02,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":0.98,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":9740,"original_word_count":9892,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Pauline Wehrle","identified_edition":"AP1988","book_title":"Necessity and Freedom","publisher":"Anthroposophic Press","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA166/English/AP1988/19160208p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
