They spoke of this new life and of how it brought to them the new light which the heavens had announced to them in the days of early spring. This was the ancient Christmas, the consecrated night. When they later received tidings of one who was born in the holiest hour and who was destined for great things it reminded them of another who had been the firstborn after the twelfth hour of the consecrated night. The ancient knowledge was gone, but the ancient feelings lived on when the tidings came of such a one born in distant Asia, one in whom lived the Christ Who had descended to the earth from the starry heavens.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Christ's Descent and the Northern Mystery Impulse","date":"1916-12-21","location":null,"word_count":153,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/173a/1916-12-21/p037","alignment_confidence":"low","alignment_reason":"count_diverges","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":null,"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/173a/1916-12-21/p037"}],"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.19,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":6650,"original_word_count":5592,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"status":"unknown","warning":"No translator is recorded for this edition.
