This quality is more pronounced in people living in countries towards the eastern hemisphere. The further west one goes, the less do human beings reveal in themselves those subtle connections which point to the hidden spiritual realm I have indicated. That is why the Western Europeans, who have to resort to connections of a cruder nature, find it so extraordinarily difficult to understand the soul characteristics of the Russians. And such understanding is more essential now than ever before. It could be said that Russians are a fraction less awake than Western or even Central Europeans. That is why what we are now speaking about is easier to relate to the inner life of a Russian than to the inner life of a Western European. It does of course relate to people in the West, but it is not so easy to detect there.[^6]","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Lecture VI","site_heading":"The I Across Incarnations: Thought, Will, and Hidden Connections","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator. Nun, er beschreibt ihn außerordentlich interessant, diesen Stepniak, und zunächst das äußere Leben dieses Stepniak:","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":346,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/176/1917-07-10/p020"}],"english":["GA 176/1917-07-10/p024","GA 176/1917-07-10/p025"],"method":"length","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":346,"en_words":337,"ratio":0.97,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":0.92,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":8241,"original_word_count":8922,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Rita Stebbing","identified_edition":"AP1987","book_title":"Aspects of Human Evolution","publisher":"Anthroposophic Press","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA176/English/AP1987/19170710p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
