Life today is not seen as it truly is; people shun the spirit and attempt to shape their life purely on the basis of what is unspiritual. It is useless to harbor spiritual knowledge as an abstract general truth, paying no need to it when trying to understand life. To know that man consists of physical body, etheric body, astral body and 'I' or that Lucifer and Ahriman exist, is not enough. One should be able to apply concepts such as ahrimanic or luciferic scientifically, like a physicist applies the concepts of positive and negative electricity when testing these phenomena.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"1. Nicht bloß darauf kommt es an, daß man weiß: der Mensch besteht aus physischem Leib, Ätherleib, Astralleib und Ich und es gibt Ahriman und Luzifer, sondern darauf kommt es an, daß wir in echt wissenschaftlichem Sinne verwenden können diese Begriffe ahrimanisch, luziferisch, wie der Physiker verwenden kann die Begriffe positive und negative Elektrizität, wenn er diese Erscheinungen prüft.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":170,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/176/1917-07-31/p033"}],"english":["GA 176/1917-07-31/p042"],"method":"length+anchor_constrained","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":170,"en_words":132,"ratio":0.78,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":0.92,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":6890,"original_word_count":7508,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Rita Stebbing","identified_edition":"AP1985","book_title":"The Karma of Materialism","publisher":"Anthroposophic Press","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA176/English/AP1985/19170731p01.html","evidence":"lecture_list_row","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
