From the spiritual point of view, one must approach the question of freedom in a completely different way. One must approach it in such a way that one knows: the one who can doubt the fact of human freedom does not understand the human will. Wherever doubt arises about human freedom, this presence of doubt is proof that the person in question has no idea of the real reality of human will. For as soon as one recognizes the will, one also recognizes the self-evident correlate of the will, one recognizes the impulse of human freedom.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Intellectuality and Will – The Necessity of New Cognitive Powers","site_heading":null,"date":"1917-12-22","location":null,"word_count":118,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/179/1917-12-22/p006","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"Singles","book_title":null,"publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA179/English/Singles/19171222.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/179/1917-12-22/p006"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/179/1917-12-22/p006","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here. Wo immer Zweifel auftreten an der menschlichen Freiheit, da ist dieses Vorhandensein des Zweifels ein Beweis dafür, daß der Betreffende keine Ahnung hat von der wirklichen Realität des menschlichen Willens.
