This passage is not Rudolf Steiner — the editor. This passage is an editor's footnote or endnote ([^n]: marker), NOT lecture text. Any Steiner words inside it are the editor's report of a variant or shorthand and must not be quoted as the lecture.
Record: unknown. How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here. Unknown is not an assurance of a stenogram: check the edition's own notes before resting an argument on one word.
[^8]: A recent appreciation of Tertullian by a theologian, Professor W. H. C. Frend, appeared in The Expository Times of February 1970. Professor Frend considers that the fact that western theology has always retained an important place for the doctrine of the Holy Spirit owes much to Tertullian. He also considers that ‘a new assessment of Tertullian is badly needed, embodying recent study of the Severan age and the role of the Christians in the Roman Empire at this period.’ Ed.
