We see how the striving for the impulse of freedom rises up from subconscious depths of the human soul; how, at the present time, this call for freedom resounds through all human efforts. It does indeed pervade them, but there is so much that resounds in human striving that is not clearly understood, that only echoes up from subconscious levels yet to be permeated by clear comprehension. Initiation science realizes that it must produce an initiation knowledge that is illuminated by the light of freedom.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Lecture IV","site_heading":"Spirit and Matter: Overcoming Materialism Through Initiation","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator.
