The spirited materialist may be more filled with spirit than the exponent of a spiritual theory who presents it spiritlessly. In the case of true spiritual science, the possibility no longer exists merely to dispute logically about ideological standpoints. It becomes imperative to grasp the spirit in its actuality. That is impossible unless one first comprehends some preliminary concepts such as those of which we have spoken today and shall be considering further tomorrow.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Lecture IV","site_heading":"Spirit and Matter: Overcoming Materialism Through Initiation","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator. Der geistvolle Materialist kann mehr erfüllt sein vom Geiste als derjenige, der eine spirituelle Theorie vertritt, wenn er sie eben geistlos vertritt.
