They describe the difficulties human beings face now that they are supposed to return to the spiritual world and experience themselves in harmony with the spiritual world. Cyprianusis still caught in the demonic echoes of the ancient heathen world. He has also not sufficiently overcome the ancient Hebrew element and brought it down to earth. Jahve is still enthroned in the super-sensible worlds, has not descended through the death on the cross, and has not yet become united with the earth. Cyprianus and Justina experience their coming together with the spiritual world as they step through the portal of death—so terrible is the struggle to bring Christ into human nature in the time between birth and death. And there is an awareness that the Middle Ages are not yet mature enough to bring Christ in in this way.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Lecture IX","site_heading":"Dead Thoughts and Living Spirit: The Mystery of Golgotha's Answer","site_heading_note":"A heading the site wrote for this unit from a summary of it; not in the edition, and not the words of Rudolf Steiner or of the translator. Und ein Bewußtsein davon ist vorhanden, daß das Mittelalter eben noch nicht reif ist, um ihn in dieser Weise hereinzubekommen.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":160,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/210/1922-02-18/p033"}],"english":["GA 210/1922-02-18/p034"],"method":"length","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":160,"en_words":151,"ratio":0.94,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":0.99,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":5123,"original_word_count":5160,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Johanna Collis","identified_edition":"RSP1991","book_title":"Old and New Methods of Initiation","publisher":"Rudolf Steiner Press","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA210/English/RSP1991/19220218p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
