But this theosophy melts away within a few hours; it is among the first things to be forgotten. The peculiar thing is that those thoughts that originate from spiritualism are not even effective in the very first moments after death; human beings cannot even carry them through the gate of death. The thoughts that human beings form from spiritualistic experiments are the most materialistic thoughts. This is proven by the fact that they are not carried beyond death at all. For while spiritualists believe that thoughts from a spiritual world are brought to them through mediums, the truth is that all thoughts about spiritualism do not even go beyond death. So strong are the illusions to which people give themselves over when they want to form views about the spiritual world in some way.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Our Thought Life in Sleep and Wakefulness and in the Afterlife","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-06-21","location":null,"word_count":154,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/224/1923-06-21/p023","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"The Human Soul in its Connection with Divine-Spiritual Individualities","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA224/English/SOL2024/19230621p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
