Insofar as we are nervous beings, we are heavenly sprouts, and we establish ourselves spiritually there, remaining heavenly sprouts insofar as we are nervous beings. In a sense, the spirituality that we were before has become rigid. And it attaches itself to the rest, which is not the nervous human being, which is, in the extreme, the blood human being. This is attached; it is different matter. It is matter that is in constant, intimate interaction with the spirit, that is constantly bubbling with the spirit. While the spirit is frozen in the nerve body, it is constantly being recreated in the blood body; this is where the actual earthly metamorphosis takes place. These two human beings are linked together, but they are completely different from each other, just as positive and negative electricity are different from each other. We carry such polarity within us in relation to the nature of our nerve body and blood body. The other organs are metamorphosed organs made of blood and nerves.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Our Thought Life in Sleep and Wakefulness and in the Afterlife","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-06-21","location":null,"word_count":182,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/224/1923-06-21/p027","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"The Human Soul in its Connection with Divine-Spiritual Individualities","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA224/English/SOL2024/19230621p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
