Record: listeners' notes. Written from listeners' notes, summaries, or memory rather than a shorthand transcript. The wording is the note-taker's as much as Steiner's: weigh a single striking phrase here far more cautiously than the same phrase in a stenographic volume, and do not rest an argument on one word. Evidence: «Nach zum Teil bruchstückhaften Mitschriften» (From transcripts that are in part fragmentary). The publisher's description of the volume, as mirrored on AnthroWiki (GA 246), which also speaks of "fragmentarischen Hörernotizen und Vortragszusammenfassungen". The translation is the maintainer's, not a published one.

That was when a greater spirit in our time was completely imbued inwardly with the harmony of the spheres, with the harmony in the construction of the world, and then expressed this in mathematical laws - in the so-called Keplerian laws. These are apparently quite dry and abstract - but in Kepler's case they were born out of an understanding of the harmony of the universe. We can hear this from Kepler himself when he says: "So that I could find what I found, I had to go to the sacred mysteries of the Egyptians, stole their temple vessels and made the sacrifice with them that led me to what I now lay in the lap of mankind as laws, so that it would only be understood centuries later.
