Having laid aside the etheric body, man has the astral body and the Ego as the members of his being still remaining to him. The astral body, so long as it is with him, brings to his consciousness all that during earthly life was the unconscious content of the soul when at rest in sleep. This content includes the judgements instilled into the astral body by Spirit-beings of a higher World during the periods of sleep—judgements which remain concealed from earthly consciousness. Man now lives through his earthly life a second time, yet so, that the content of his soul is now the judgement of his thought and action from the standpoint of the Spirit-world. He lives it through in backward order: first the last night, then the last but one, and so on.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Anthroposophical Leading Thoughts","site_heading":null,"date":null,"location":null,"word_count":135,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/26/a01/p043","alignment_confidence":"low","alignment_reason":"no_original_to_compare","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":null,"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["APC1956","RSP1973"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"en","edition":"RSP1973","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/26/a01/p043"}],"other_renderings":{"loci":[{"locus":"GA 260a/1924-02-17_02","ga":"260a","lecture":"1924-02-17_02","kind":"excerpt","relation":"an excerpt or summary of the same lecture, or the lecture this unit excerpts"}],"note":"The same lecture is also served at the loci listed, each with how it relates to this one.
