Here it is as if one was before a bare canvas and unused paints, and an artist not even painting. To get a perception of the metabolic and limb system, one must get a perception that has as little connection with the senses, as have the bare canvas and unused paints with that which is afterwards the artist's picture. And the activity that is developed by the soul in pure spirituality out of the metabolic and limb system is as when, upon seeing the painter and an empty canvas and unused paints, one experiences the picture to be painted later. In order to understand the metabolic and limb system the soul must exercise the power *of Intuition*.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"On the Picture Nature of Man","site_heading":null,"date":null,"location":null,"word_count":131,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/26/a02/p013","alignment_confidence":"low","alignment_reason":"no_original_to_compare","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":null,"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["APC1956","RSP1973"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"en","edition":"RSP1973","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/26/a02/p013"},{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"locus":"GA 26/l31/p013","anchor_mapped":true,"anchor_method":"positional","anchor_confidence":"medium","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/26/l31/p013"}],"other_renderings":{"loci":[{"locus":"GA 260a/1924-05-18","ga":"260a","lecture":"1924-05-18","kind":"excerpt","relation":"an excerpt or summary of the same lecture, or the lecture this unit excerpts"}],"note":"The same lecture is also served at the loci listed, each with how it relates to this one.
