Record: listeners' notes. Written from listeners' notes, summaries, or memory rather than a shorthand transcript. The wording is the note-taker's as much as Steiner's: weigh a single striking phrase here far more cautiously than the same phrase in a stenographic volume, and do not rest an argument on one word. Evidence: «Gedächtnisaufzeichnungen von Teilnehmern» (Participants' records written from memory). Rudolf Steiner Verlag Gesamtverzeichnis 2022, volume subtitle. The translation is the maintainer's, not a published one.

Yesterday we spoke about the disciple hearing the spiritual sound, the sound from the East. If the discile were to say that he now knows how the spiritual sounds, that he has now heard the first spiritual sound, he would be making a grave mistake. The sound that the disciple hears is, in fact, the last word, as it were, from the physical world. Everything that still sounds loud in any way, every sound that can come from a larynx incarnated in the flesh, does not come from the spiritual realm.
