Record: listeners' notes. Written from listeners' notes, summaries, or memory rather than a shorthand transcript. The wording is the note-taker's as much as Steiner's: weigh a single striking phrase here far more cautiously than the same phrase in a stenographic volume, and do not rest an argument on one word. Evidence: «Gedächtnisaufzeichnungen von Teilnehmern» (Participants' records written from memory). Rudolf Steiner Verlag Gesamtverzeichnis 2022, volume subtitle. The translation is the maintainer's, not a published one.

The spiritual world is, for the time being, completely colorless, lightless, soundless, and so on. Everything we see in terms of colors, for example, is not spiritual, but comes from within ourselves, and indeed it imparts qualities that we do not yet possess, that we still have to attain. When we see the color red, for example, it means that we do not yet have love within us, that we have to develop it within ourselves. If we see violet, it means that we must acquire devoted piety.
