Record: listeners' notes. Written from listeners' notes, summaries, or memory rather than a shorthand transcript. The wording is the note-taker's as much as Steiner's: weigh a single striking phrase here far more cautiously than the same phrase in a stenographic volume, and do not rest an argument on one word. Evidence: «Gedächtnisaufzeichnungen von Teilnehmern» (Participants' records written from memory). Rudolf Steiner Verlag Gesamtverzeichnis 2022, volume subtitle. The translation is the maintainer's, not a published one.

We should think of the black cross as the death of human passions, and in the red roses we see the symbol of the purified human being who has cast off the lower nature. If we transform the black cross into a white one in our meditation, it symbolizes the spiritually elevated human being. All egoism is then extinguished. The red roses will meditatively transform into green ones and awaken in us devotion to the divine. A veil will be torn from our eyes, and we will consciously look into the spiritual world.
