Lesson XIX

GA 270/1924-08-02/p088 ·1924-08-02 · English LowLow alignmentMost translators re-paragraphed Steiner substantially. The locus identifies the same chapter or section, but paragraph-N to paragraph-N mapping is loose. For exact-quotation precision, compare with the German.
This passage is not Rudolf Steiner — the editor. This passage is an editor's footnote or endnote ([^n]: marker), NOT lecture text. Any Steiner words inside it are the editor's report of a variant or shorthand and must not be quoted as the lecture.
Record: unknown. How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here. Unknown is not an assurance of a stenogram: check the edition's own notes before resting an argument on one word.

[^2]: The IT ( es in German) here is a dummy-subject triple entendre, referring to the stars-flaming, to seraphic fire-powers, and to That which is creating spirit-flaming speech in my heart. Also please note that there are only two capitalized proper pronouns in English, I and the royal We, whereas in German pronouns are never capitalized. In this line Ich is capitalized, making it a noun, and so we must say the I. This is in keeping with how Steiner said that people after dying referred to it as my I or the I. This is repeated in the second and third stanzas.
