Then we can awaken to the consciousness, ‘Ah! now we are beginning to feel!’ To take our simple example, we shall feel a supporting element, an upward striving, supporting luciferic element; a weighing and pressing down ahrimanic element, and a balance between the luciferic and ahrimanic which is a divine quality. This is a way of becoming conscious of this. We shall become aware, too, that whereas outside, the architectural element is supporting, weighing down and creating a balance, we ourselves in this encounter with the architectural element, develop a musical mood. Architecture produces a musical mood in our inner being, and we notice that even though the elements of architecture and music appear to be so alien in the outer world, through this musical mood engendered in us, our experience of architecture brings about a reconciliation, a balance between these two elements.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":155,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/275/1915-01-02/p016","german_anchor":{"de_prefix":"1915-01-02","de_passages":[{"locus":"GA 275/1915-01-02/p017","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/275/1915-01-02/p017"}],"bead_confidence":"medium","length_check":{"de_words":150,"en_words":155,"ratio":1.03,"partial":false},"correspondence":"established","note":"English passage numbering is edition-relative, so the same number need not name the same paragraph in the German.
