Before such a performance, it is always necessary to ask the esteemed audience for their indulgence. We are our own harshest critics and know very well that what we are attempting with eurythmy is only in the early stages of development. We are aware of the shortcomings that still exist, but at the same time it must be emphasized that eurythmy has truly unlimited potential for development, because it makes use of the tool that most art forms can offer, namely the human organism itself. What is only possible to a limited extent in the dramatic arts, in the art of mime, namely the use of the human organism as a tool, is carried out in a wholly artistic manner in eurythmy, in that what manifests as movement and mobility is drawn out from the innermost laws of this organism.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Address on Eurythmy","site_heading":null,"date":"1922-05-07","location":null,"word_count":158,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/277c/1922-05-07/p020","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1920–1922","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA277c/English/SOL2025/19220507e01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
