For this recitation and declamation to eurythmy consists in the fact that, certainly, the individual gesture expresses something, but that what matters above all is the sequence of gestures, what I would call the angular, the round, the angular-round, and so on, of the gesture. It is not important that one performs this gesture here, but that one allows it to work as a whole. For art should not be interpreted intellectually – that kills it – but should work in the immediate sensory impression. And that is precisely what eurythmy can do.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Eurythmy Performance","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-02-04","location":null,"word_count":118,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/277d/1923-02-04/p015","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1923–1925","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA277d/English/SOL2025/19230204e01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page. Es kommt nicht darauf an, dass man diese Gebärde hier betätigt, sondern dass man sie als ein Ganzes wirken lässt.
