The nervous-sensory system is, in a sense, only one pole of the human organization. The other pole is the motor system with everything connected with it. And in the ordinary gesture, the ordinary movement, the other pole already supports what is revealed as the air gesture influenced by the nervous system. But what is quite primitive as a gesture, incidentally supporting speech, can be further developed. Then there arises the formed gesture, the articulated gesture, then there arises the artistically formed gesture, which can then relate to the ordinary gesture in the same way that articulated, artistically perfected speech relates to the babbling of a child. One could say that what emerges in ordinary life is a kind of babbling in gestures, as opposed to what is to be revealed through eurythmy in perfect articulation as a trained, developed sign language.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Eurythmy Performance","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-07-08","location":null,"word_count":156,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/277d/1923-07-08/p010","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1923–1925","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA277d/English/SOL2025/19230708e01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
