As a result, however, the ego and the astral body are related to the things and processes of the earth in a way that is initially unconscious to the human being. When we are awake, our inner being — that is, our ego and astral body — does not have the same intimate relationship with the outside world as it does when we are asleep, because when we are awake, we perceive the outside world only with the help of the physical body and its organs, with the help of the etheric body and its organs. Now, because the ego and the astral body enter into closer connections with the outside world during our entire earthly existence, every time we are asleep, they are in fact, I would say, in a very intimate relationship with the outside world and can thus also convey what enters the conscious mind as the unconscious in the revelations of human nature.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Eurythmy Performance","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-07-22","location":null,"word_count":197,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/277d/1923-07-22/p009","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1923–1925","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA277d/English/SOL2025/19230722e01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
