But the elements of the outside world actually flow into language – let us speak mainly of language. We must recognize in our language that which enters our speech and also our singing via the Ego and astral body, indirectly through respiration and blood circulation. What enters our speech and singing via the detour through breathing and blood circulation originates from the ego and astral body, which have the opportunity to connect intimately with the inner world again and again when they are separated from the outer world. If, for example, we look for the peculiar shape that, say, the human lip apparatus assumes in order to form certain consonants, we cannot stop at the human being if we want to understand this, I would almost say mysterious, shape of the lip, tongue, and so on. In this respect, our present-day, so-called scientific age is extremely superficial.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Eurythmy Performance","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-07-22","location":null,"word_count":169,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/277d/1923-07-22/p013","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1923–1925","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA277d/English/SOL2025/19230722e01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
